Toward Sustainability
At Loam, we are deeply committed to good stewardship of our community, our environment and our wonderfully magnificent natural world. As our name suggests, we want our blocks to nourish people with creative play and the tactile delight of wholesome toys. From the very beginning, our ambition was to design and create a beautiful, simple, and timeless architectural wood toy that could last forever (or just about :).
We’ve worked rigorously to produce architectural blocks from locally sourced, solid American Maple wood. All of our products are intentionally plastic-free, stain-free, filler-free, non-toxic, and are made from natural and sustainable resources, compostable and recyclable. Even our packaging is fully recyclable and free of plastic! Our manufacturing process is waste free, which means that any and all byproduct created during the fabrication process is collected and either repurposed for another product or fully recycled for new use.
We are proudly a “Made in the USA” company. Our blocks and metal components are sustainably sourced from Wisconsin tree farms and US based steel purveyors, and all of our components are fabricated, milled, and cast in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We are grateful for our natural resources, and we hope to tread lightly on our world.
Our hope is that Loam blocks will be cherished as a lasting heirloom for generations, and will eventually go quietly and gently back into the earth from where they came.
